MELINDRA TRAIL - RACE NOTICE

1-2 TERMS & ORGANIZATION

The Organization (Board of Directors of Olympus Marathon), in collaboration with the Municipality of Dion-Olympus, the Regional Unit of Pieria, and the Region of Central Macedonia, organize the 5th international mountain running race Melindra Trail on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

3 GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS

Melindra Trail is a mountain running race on Mt. Olympus, with a distance of 5km and a vertical gain of +180m. The race takes place on the last Sunday of June every year with start and finish in Litochoro. It features a relatively easy route, ideal for a first introduction to mountain running. Time limit: 2 hours.

4-5 PARTICIPATION & REGISTRATIONS

Men and women over 12 years old are eligible to participate (ages 12-18 require parental consent). Registrations are individual only (March 3 - May 31, 2026). Athletes must provide personal data and a brief athletic CV. Registration is completed once the payment process is finished exclusively by card. The registration fee is 10€.

* Includes: BIB, athlete pack, first aid, hydration at finish, finisher medal (for valid finishes). The Organization reserves the right to approve free participation for athletes to raise the competitive level.

6 CANCELLATION POLICY

No refunds available in case of participation cancellation or race interruption due to weather conditions. If an athlete does not participate, they must inform info@olympus-marathon.com. BIB exchange, postponement to the following year, or race change is not possible. In case of absence, the pack is sent to the registration address.

7-8 MEDICAL CERTIFICATE & TIME LIMIT (DNF)

Athletes are not required to provide a medical certificate; they assume full responsibility for their participation. The maximum allowed time is 2 hours. Those arriving outside the limit are disqualified (DSQ). There are no cut-off points. The "sweeper" follows the last runner. In case of abandonment (DNF), the athlete informs officials and returns to Litochoro on foot.

9 BIB & PACK COLLECTION

BIB numbers and pack distribution take place at the Litochoro Municipal Park (EXPO Area) during Secretary working hours. ID or Passport is required. The BIB must be worn unaltered (not folded/cut) on the front of the jersey exclusively by the registered person.

10-11 EQUIPMENT & NUTRITION

The BIB number must be visible and trail shoes are required. The organization may modify mandatory equipment 12 hours prior based on weather. Use of poles is allowed. No aid stations available. Specific dietary requirements are managed autonomously. Refreshments and fruits are provided at the finish line.

12-13 START & ROUTE

Start: 09:15 (Sunday, June 28, 2026). Athletes must be at Litochoro Park by 08:45.
Route: Divided into trails, dirt roads, and asphalt. Marking is dense (tapes, paint within town, signs). Groups obstructing overtaking are prohibited. In case of emergency, the route may be modified. Kilometers are not marked. Cutting the route is prohibited.

14-16 SAFETY, ENVIRONMENT & WEATHER

Volunteer Samaritan Rescuers are positioned along the route. An ambulance and doctor are at the finish. We are in a National Park (UNESCO MAB): Littering is prohibited, as is picking flowers and disturbing wildlife (immediate disqualification). Organizers reserve the right to changes or stoppage due to extreme weather.

17 PENALTIES & OBJECTIONS

• Immediate Disqualification (DSQ): Route cutting, BIB loss, littering, refusing aid, insulting staff, using transportation.
• Committee's decision on objections (submitted within 24 hours of finish) is final.
• Provisional results released within 24 hours. Ranking based on gun time.

18-20 AWARDS, IMAGE RIGHTS, RESPONSIBILITY

Commemorative medal for valid finishers. Cups for top 3 Men & 3 Women (no age categories). Awards Ceremony: Sunday, June 28, 14:30 (Litochoro Park). Awards are not sent. Athletes freely authorize image use. Participation signifies full acceptance of regulations and release of Organizers' liability.
