🦅 Race Regulations

Eagles Edge 2026

📝 1. Terms

In the regulations listed below, the words noted here refer to specific terms:

  • RACE: The race "Eagles Edge" (Kopsi ton Aeton).
  • ATHLETES: The contestants, meaning those who have legally registered and participate in the race.
  • ORGANIZERS: The Board of Directors of Olympus Marathon.
  • RACE COMMITTEE: The Organizing Committee responsible for the execution of the race and making the decisions.

🤝 2. Organization

In collaboration with the Municipality of Dion-Olympus, the Regional Unit of Pieria, and the Region of Central Macedonia, the 6th "Eagles Edge" is organized, an international mountain running race on Mt. Olympus on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

🏃 3. General Route Details

"Eagles Edge" is a mountain running race on Mt. Olympus, which has a distance of 14 km and a vertical gain of +800m.

The race takes place on the last Sunday of June every year, following the familiar paths of the first half of Winter Enipeas (and Melindra Trail), with start and finish in Litochoro, at 10:00 am.

Time limit: 5 hours.

Rationale for the race name:
On the rock face of Zilnia, "Eagles Edge" (Kopsi ton Aeton) is, by general admission, the most beautiful and spectacular climbing route. For the first time, this route was done solo by Dimitris Boundolas in 1979 (a Greek climber from Litochoro with international recognition, who prematurely lost his life in the Himalayas in 1985). Honoring the memory of this great figure of Greek mountaineering, the race "Eagles Edge" was created.

👥 4. Participation

Men and women over 15 years old are eligible to participate in the race (for ages 15-18, the consent of their parents will be required).

📅 5. Registrations & Cost

Registrations officially open on Monday, March 2 and will remain open until May 31, 2026.

Only individual registrations are possible. Athletes must provide their personal data, a brief athletic CV, and, if available, their ITRA score with a link from their page (itra.run).

Registration is completed once the payment process has been made.

Participation cost: 20€

The cost includes: BIB number, athlete's pack, first aid/nutrition, medal (for valid finishes), and private insurance.
